In light of COVID 19, the I.A.A.I. Ontario had to suspend all LIVE seminars for 2020.

Do we have a problem in Canada we don’t know about?
A 60-year old gentleman was walking his dog at 11 p.m. when he suddenly saw flames shooting from the rear of a house he was walking by. He had his cell phone with him. He dialed ‘9-11’. As he ran up to the front door he saw it was partially open. He looked inside and saw a fellow standing inside a hallway just watching the fire. This fellow didn’t seem panicked at all. He was just watching. When the discoverer yelled at him this fellow immediately turned and said, “Heh. I left a pot of grease on the stove top. I had fallen asleep.” The witness pulled out his cell phone and started to videotape. The tenant yelled at him to stop doing that…”
The fire department arrived a few minutes later. They only took a few minutes to knock out the fire but there was major structural damage to the home and the contents were badly smoke-damaged. A fire captain spoke to the homeowner who told him it was an accident.
Within minutes the homeowner was calling his insurer’s 1-800 Help Line to report the claim. He was counselled to move out to a hotel and by 8 a.m. the next morning he was speaking to a telephone claims adjuster who said a contractor would be sent out immediately.
In the United States city of Muncie, Indiana this scenario was the start of Kenny Allen’s 14-year ‘career’ as an “arsonist”. His first fire was an accident. The next 73-fires were not! Allen became the brains behind the largest organized arson ring in the history of the United States that collected over $4 million from insurance companies.
Not one of these fires orchestrated by Kenny Allen was deemed to be an “intentionally set”. This conspiracy sent a shiver through the entire nation’s fire investigation community.
Kenny Allen was arrested after an extensive investigation by ATF Special Agent Mike Vergon. His case management and investigation skills cracked the case. A plea bargain saw Allen serve 4-years in a federal prison.
The International Association of Arson Investigators (Ontario Chapter) is pleased to offer a unique “experience” virtually on March 25th, 2021. Both retired Agent Mike Vergon and Kenny Allen will provide a very dynamic, interactive webinar where you will learn all the inside details on how this kitchen-fire was the start of a major criminal organization.
This is a webinar you don’t want to miss. Anyone who investigates fire scenes for the police, fire or insurance companies will never investigate a fire scene the same way after attending these presentations.
